What is Geisro

GIS studio in the cloud

Geisro is an online GIS map editor for businesses and individuals who need to mark up a map without opening heavyweight desktop GIS software. Map out a plot of land, trace a cable or pipeline route, capture survey points, annotate a site plan or outline a delivery zone - then keep everything organised in projects and layers, saved to your account and ready to export, so you can return to your projects whenever you need. No downloads, no licences, no steep learning curve.

Features

Toolset for real day to day mapping work

Draw & annotate

Sketch and label anything on the map

Place points, trace lines and close off polygons - fields, zones, buildings, boundaries. Give each shape a name and custom attributes, so your map carries real information, not just outlines.

  • Points, lines & polygons
  • Name & custom attributes
  • Edit vertices anytime
annotateBUILDINGS
Editing a shape: its name, layer and custom attributes like postcode, street and building type
Measurements & dimensions

Precise numbers for every shape you draw

Distance and area are computed geodesically, on the real Earth, so the numbers stay honest at any scale. Units switch themselves; select several shapes and Geisro totals them.

  • Geodesic accuracy
  • Auto units: m to km, m² to ha to km²
  • Sum areas & lengths across a selection
  • Zoomable per-side diagram
measureAREA · PERIM · SIDES
Drawing a polygon with a live distance readout of 42 m Three polygons selected, with the summed area 921 m² and perimeter 210.3 m Dimensions dialog with the length of every side and a perimeter and area summary
Data in & out

Import and export

Drop a GeoJSON file straight onto a layer and edit its features visually. Export the whole layer, or just the geometries you select. Pull in any country's border from Natural Earth with a single search.

  • Visual GeoJSON editing
  • Selective export
  • One-click country borders
geojson{ } IMPORT
Import GeoJSON dialog: drop a file or paste features into an existing or new layer Import country borders dialog: copy a country's Natural Earth boundary into a layer
Organise & collaborate

Projects, layers and shared teams

Keep work tidy with multiple projects and colour-coded layers, custom attributes and a fast filter. Create an organisation, add members and share projects so your whole team maps together in one place.

  • Colour-coded layers + attributes
  • Fast geometry filter
  • Organisations & shared projects

Roles and permissions for your team

We are building fine-grained permissions for organisations. Soon you will give each member a role - Owner, Editor or Reader - so you decide exactly who can manage the team, who can edit projects and layers, and who can only view them.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Geisro free to use?

Sign in with a Google or Microsoft account and draw, save and organise maps for free. Paid plans (Pro, Ultra and Team) raise the limits and add GeoJSON import and export, measurements, more route planning and map data import.

Do I need to install any software?

No. Geisro runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to download - just open the map editor and start drawing.

Can I import and export GeoJSON?

Yes. Import GeoJSON files into any layer and edit the features visually, and export the active layer - or just the geometries you select - to take your data elsewhere.

Can I measure distances and areas?

Yes. Geisro shows the length of lines and the area of polygons as you draw, and a dimensions view labels every side.

Can I work on maps with my team?

Yes. Create an organisation, add members and share your projects and layers. Role-based permissions (Owner, Editor, Reader) are coming soon.
